A new permanent theatre costume exhibition entitled “
Traces of the Ephemeral”, presenting the 56-year history of the National Theatre of Northern Greece, is to take up residence in the foyer of the
Vassiliko Theatre. The exhibition is due to open on 31 May, 2017.
The National Theatre of Northern Greece is organizing the present comprehensive, permanent costume exhibition in the light of the success of “
Moments of Creation in Time”, an exhibition staged in the Aladja Imaret in October 2016, and the positive public response to both the exhibition in the ‘art windows’ of the OTE telephone company (March 2017) and the
Giorgos Ziakas exhibition in the foyer of the Society of Macedonian Studies (May 2017). Part of the NTNG’s impressive costume collection will be permanently housed in the centre of Thessaloniki, where the public will enjoy easy access to it.
Costumes of high aesthetic value, from landmark plays staged at the National Theatre of Northern Greece during the 56 years of its existence, are displayed in specially designed display cases that blend into the space of the foyer. The exhibition is curated by the set and costume designer,
Ioulia Stavridou.
The exhibition comprises 80 costumes, designed by renowned Greek designers including:
Giorgos Vakalo, Vassilis Vassiliadis, Spyros Vassiliou, Denny Vachlioti, Apostolos Vettas, Nikos Engonopoulos, Liza Zaimi, Giorgos Ziakas, Kleovoulos Klonis, Kenny McLellan, Ioanna Manoledaki, Giannis Metzikof, Dimitris Mytaras, Nikos Sachinis, Vassilis Fotopoulos, Dionysis Fotopoulos et al.
The NTNG Costume Exhibition is part of the Partnership Agreement Operational Programme “Central Macedonia 2014-2020” (ESPA 2014-2020) and co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Public Investment Programme (PIP). For this reason, all the informative material relating to the exhibition is published in both Greek and English.
