«A Thousand Daemons»

Opening lecture - 6th International Forest Festival

The lecture is an exploration of the forest in Yoruba and other West-African cultures as a symbolic space of social exile, mythical encounter and self-transformation; a poetic study of the monstrous and the unruly, spanning material, social and spiritual worlds.

Logan February is a multidisciplinary poet born in Nigeria, whose work explores themes of desire, psychospirituality, and Afro-queer identity. They are the author of “In The Nude” (2019), “Mental Voodoo “(2024, translated by Christian Filips), and the forthcoming “Nude Imperative” (2025). February has been recognized with the Future Awards Africa Prize for Literature and has received fellowships from Cave Canem, LCB Berlin, Literaturhaus Wien, the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin program, and the Berlin Senate Department for Culture. Presently a poet-in-residence at the Humboldt Forum, Logan February lives in Berlin.
