Jaffa Theatre – Arab Hebrew Culture
 
In Old Jaffa in a multi-arched historic 500-year-old building overlooking the sea, for over 20 years the Jaffa Arab Hebrew Theatre has been a model of shared lives and bi-lingual, bi-culture intergroup artistic creativity. The Jaffa theatre is a stage for theatre, the arts and cross-cultural activity promoting Jewish, Arab and Middle Eastern understanding and mutual respect as a path to reconciliation and peace.  Igal Ezraty, General Manager, Gaby Aldor, Co-Artistic Director and Rauda Sliman, Arabic Stage Director have made the Jaffa Theatre a home for Arab and Jewish artists and creators from the center and the periphery of the country who together grapple with questions of identity, society and place. These goals are achieved through bilingual plays, cultural projects, workshops, festivals, art exhibits and literary programs.  Besides ongoing productions in the theatre, performances take place across-country. The theatre also produces major festivals the Jaffa Children’s Theatre Festival, the Festival of Arabic Contemporary Culture and “Theatronetto Festival” mono shows, which host diverse audiences and artists.  The Jaffa Theatre has also performed internationally and continues to serve as a model for creative collaboration between conflicting ethnic groups.
 
Ilan Ronen as former Director of Habima National Theatre was president of UTE rom 2011-15.
